Some insider tips to find the right fit for your situation...

The 3rd Street and Hwy 97 corridors feature a ton of options including a number of very affordable properties at various star ratings. Mostly these places are located along a typical commercial strip 4 lane road. Some off a "parkway" (semi-freeway). You will find it difficult to reach downtown attractions on foot from most of these places so you are looking at a 3-10 minute drive to the various core area hot spots. Some places are within walking distance of grocery stores but "boutique shopping" and other attractions usually require at least a short drive. Your drive up to the mountain will also involve crossing downtown so you'll need to add 5-15 minutes (one-way) depending on location.

The downtown and Mill District areas have several newer lodging properties and B&B options. At least a few options are very upscale, some featuring mountain or river views. Prices will vary greatly with the core area lodging options. You are usually within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, and other attractions. Grocery stores are typically a 5 minute drive. Depending on the property and time of day, you may need to add 3-8 minutes (one-way) to your drive time up to the mountain.

Westside lodging is exclusively located near the confluence of Century Drive (14th), Colorado, and Mount Washington Drives...or further up Century Drive 1-4 miles towards the mountain. Most westside options specialize in suites, condos, or kitchette rooms and these can be a fantastic fit for a group of skiers traveling together. Your outdoor options for dryland afternoons (bike, hike, run, paddle, etc.) are right out the door. Closer to town you can walk to grocery stores and some shops/restaurants. You'll have the shortest drive up to the mountain but you will have a 3-8 minute drive to downtown.
