NM2007 - Race Courses

NM race courses are always subject to change depending on weather/snow conditions & other factors. Although Mt Bachelor is indeed one of the most reliable locations on Earth for excellent late March snow conditions, in a winter sport you just never know what can happen. Participants are advised to check xcskiworld.com frequently in the final weeks leading up to the NM2007 to keep up-to-date on the latest official news and information.

Note also that there will be no public-access power at the parking lot stadium for waxing purposes. Skiers will need to bring their own power sources or do without. Three fine local performance XC shops (all official sponsors) in town either provide glide waxing services or have public access benches for use.

Note: The Skiathlon course is revised for the NM2007. The opening CL leg will now use the exact same drop down to the mid-system Mt Bachelor trails as the Sat/Sun events and feature rolling terrain back to the stadium (same as Saturday's classic race). After the change-over, the new FS leg will use the same first 1km as the CL leg...but will now stay exclusively on the upper trail elevation doing two loops on a portion of the Sunday Cascade Crest trail around the very gentle Dutchman Flat meadows plus fun rolling terrain on the upper Mt Bachelor trails. The FS leg will loop prior to the sharp uphill/downhill next to the Nordic Lodge so that when skiers finally return to the stadium it will be at the very end of the FS leg.

Notes: Skiers in the 15km event (all men 59 and under) will ski down to the inner yellow loop (ZigZag trail), loop the entire yellow trail counter-clockwise back to the 2-way northern connection over to Rich's Range and then complete the rest of the red outer trail the same as the 10km skiers. The courses and distances will be the same as the NM2006 event.

Notes: Skiers in the 30km event (all men 59 and under) will ski the main 15km loop twice with the lap located roughly at the 1km marker and not in the stadium. Skiers in the 15km event (men 70 years+ and women 60 years+) will ski the 15km loop once and then return to the stadium for the finish. Skiers in the 20km event (men 60-69 years and women 59 and under) will start the same as 15/30km skiers to the 2.5km point, then add a 4+km interior loop, and then complete the rest of the 15km loop back to the stadium.
